Dear Parents & Loved Ones,
It is an exciting thing that your child is interested in attending TEC or that you are interested in them attending a TEC retreat weekend. You may have attended a TEC when you were younger and look forward to sharing this experience with them, or you may have just heard of it and have no idea what to expect. Once your child has submitted an application you will be contacted by Country Roads TEC and given additional details concerning the weekend. If you should have any questions or concerns before that we are happy to talk with you. Please use the Contact Us page or email [email protected]
If your child chooses to attend a weekend TEC retreat, he/she will be working, praying, and sharing together with his/her peers, former TEC students, and an adult team made up of lay and religious. Although the detailed facts about TEC could easily be given, the experience itself is difficult to convey and must be lived. The TEC weekend develops new insights and awareness into what it means to lead a Christian life. Students engage in various activities such as small group discussion, listening to various talks given by adults and peers, small crafts, recreation and team building, reception of Sacraments, private prayer, singing, and so much more. There is something for everyone!
In order to enable TEC to be a lasting, meaningful experience that will extend beyond the weekend, family support is needed. Reassurance from loved ones allows for the TEC candidate to make the connection between the weekend experience and its relationship to the world outside the retreat center. TEC is not meant to replace their parish experience, but is meant to enhance their experience of God and help them to more deeply experience Christ when they return home. For this reason it is extremely important that these candidates return to a supportive place. The role of the home and parish family plays a vital role in the spiritual life of our young people.
